“Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow”
Robert Kiyosaki

What Robert is saying is that whatever you do today is what will impact you in the future. Tomorrow is tomorrow but you have to worry about today because today is the day you have to do what you got to do, not tomorrow.

“When I was teaching basketball, I urged my players to try their hardest to improve on that very day, to make that practice a masterpiece. This rule is even more important in life than basketball. You have to apply yourself each day to become a little better. By applying yourself to the task of becoming a little better each and every day over periods of time, you will become a lot better. Only then will you be able to approach being the best you can be. It begins by trying to make each day count and knowing you can never make up for a lost day.
John wooden

Now this one is not that simple as the other ones. Well what John is saying is that if you try and try you will get better on the thing you are doing. For example, me, I play my piano a lot but I feel like I’m not good enough to play a really good song. But I tried and I succeeded because I practiced and I tried.

5 tips for success
Tip 3-4
Tip 3: do research
Literary critics have written vast numbers of analytical and critical pieces on countless books. If you’re having trouble understanding a particular text, do some research and see what knowledgeable sources have to say about it. In addition to increasing your comprehension, you'll also be showing initiative, something teachers always like to see. Always use legitimate and scholarly sources, not condensed study guides.
Tip 4: use a dictionary
Make sure you have access to a dictionary when you’re reading. You can often figure out the meaning of an unfamiliar word by using context clues, but sometimes you can’t. Rather than simply skipping over the word you don’t know take the time to look them up. The results are well worth the effort. Your comprehension will increase greatly, and you'll build your vocabulary at the same time.

“Every time I've done something that doesn't feel right, it ended up not being right,”
Mario Cuomo
What Mario is saying is that if you feel like you’re doing something wrong and not right then don’t do it because it will be wrong. If you really feel like it is wrong then don’t do it simple as that. So don’t do anything bad or there will be consequences.

Reading
5 tips for success
Reading and writing go hand in hand. The better you understand a text, the more likely you are to successfully communicate your thoughts about it in writing. So it’s important to develop strong skill in both areas. With that in mind, here’s how to improve your reading comprehension.
Tips 1-2
Tip1: annotate
Be an active reader. Instead of passively reading a text, take notes about important story elements, key factual information and significant ideas in the text.
Tip2: note the authors writing style
Every author writes with purpose, using deliberate methods to successfully relate specific information to the audience. When you’re reading, look for patterns in the authors writing. Example, you may notice a repetition of key words, phrases or symbols or the use of a distinct type of sentence structure. Authors employ these writing strategies to help readers comprehend a central argument or theme, so be sure to explore how these techniques create meaning.

The three don’ts

Don’t whine

Don’t complain

Don’t make excuses

John Wooden

What John is saying is pretty simple: don’t whine, don’t complain, and don’t make excuses. Please people don’t whine, it’s not pretty, it is just annoying. People that complain are also annoying and those people are just lazy too. Don’t make excuses or will end up getting caught.

5 tips for staying motivated

Tips 3-5

3. Set attainable goals

If you’re having trouble writing a 25-page paper for class because it seems like such a big job, don’t focus on that final number. Break the paper down and consider each section of your paper individually. You can handle any project in small chunks.

4. Find a social support network

Create a group of people around you who want to help you succeed. Mentors can be teachers or family friends who can give you guidance and help you develop new skills. Counselors can help you with planning your courses and starting to explore colleges. You can also reach out to friends and peers who can motivate you by listening and sharing ideas

5. Acknowledge your accomplishments

Give yourself a quick reward when you complete an assignment or task. Take a walk, send an email, and get a snack. Then move on to the next project.

“The three nevers”

Never lie

Never cheat

Never steal

John wooden

What john was saying was that you should never do any of those things which are never lie, never cheat, never steal. It’s pretty simple that anyone knows what he is trying to say but some people just don’t take that into consideration, so people please take this into consideration and listen to the honest great man.

5 tips for staying motivated
Tips 1-2
To succeed in high school and college, you have to do your best at all times. But sometimes it’s hard to stay motivated, even when you really care about the work you’re doing. Here are 5 ways to stay on the right track.
1.   Focus on high impact activities
The key to success in high school is staying focused on your course work. Make a list to get an overall picture of your workload before you start to tackle any of it. Then, make a plan. Although it’s tempting to do the simplest assignments first, those that take more time and effort to accomplish are probably the ones that you’ll learn the most from.
To determine what your priorities are, rank your assignments in the order of their importance. Then rearrange your time and devote more towards those that have the greatest impact on your course work and grades. For examples, even though all homework assignment s are important, studying for midterm’s exam takes priority over writing a paragraph for English class. As you complete each task, think of it as another step on your way to college success.
2.   Create new challenges
Changing your approach can help you stay interested in what you’re doing. If you’ve been given an assignment similar to one you’ve done in the past, I think about it in the past, think about it in a different way. If you wrote an essay for creative writing assignment last year, try a poem this time. For book reports, pick a history book instead of another biography.

“you have only always to do what is right. It will become easier by practice, and you enjoy in the midst of your trials the pleasure of an approving conscience.”

Robert E. Lee

What he is saying is that you have all the time in the world to do something right and if you do well, it will be easier to do those things. So always practice for something or study for a test or practice running for a marathon. Just do something with your life and do hat is right.

Take control of homework

Part 3

Take advantage of any free time

If you have a study period or a long bus ride, use the time to review notes, prepare for an upcoming class or start your homework. Flash cards are a great learning tool. They are easy to make, easy to handle, and are a marvelous tool to help you learn and remember anything. Punch a hole in the upper left corner of each index card and connect the stack of your flash cards with ring. Then the cards are bound and not flopping around. Flash cards bound like this act like a small book with pages. You can even have separate ringed stacks for each subject. WHATEVER YOU WANT TO REMEMBER PUT IT ON A CARD.

Study with a friend

Get together with friends and classmates to quiz each other, compare notes and predict test questions. Consider joining a study group.

CUMMUNICATION

If you have concerns about the amount or type of homework you have you may want to talk to your family, teachers or counselor. They can help you understand how much time you need to allot for homework and how to manage your task.

CELEBRATE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS

Reward yourself for hitting milestones or doing something well.

“Be always sure your right, then go ahead”

Davey Crockett

What Davey is saying is that if you are going the right path and you are doing well then don’t stop, keep going. If you take the wrong path then stop and go to the right path because there will be consequences to what you do. So remember always take the right path and don’t stop.

Take control of homework

Part 2

Keep things in perspective

Know how much weight each assignment or test carries, and use your time accordingly. Don’t waste time, but be wise and smart. Doing the most important things first is being wise and smart.

Get more involved

Keep your mind from wandering by taking notes, underlining sections, discussing topics with others or relating your homework top something you’re studying in another class. Learn actively and you will have a great experience. Demonstrate a good attitude towards home assignments, and you will begin to love doing it.

Organize the information

People process information in different ways. Some people like to draw picture s or charts to digest information, others prefer to read out loud or make detailed outlines. Try to find the methods that work best for you. Ask your teacher for recommendations if you’re having trouble.

“Character is higher than intellect.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

What he is saying is that it doesn’t matter how smart or dumb you are characteristics always come first. Let’s say you are a straight a student but you are a bully. Let’s say you are dumb but you are nice, gentle, and kind. So yes a characteristic does come before intellects but don’t forget characteristics won’t get you into college though. It’s good to have a good personality but it’s better to have good grades and personality too.

Take control of homework

Part 1

Although very few students love homework, it does serve a purpose. Homework helps you:

·       Reinforced what you’ve learned during the day.

·       Build study habits that are essential in college

·       Prepare for your classes

·       Get a sense of progress

Here are some tips to help you deal with homework more efficiently and effectively.

Set the mood

Create a good study area with everything you need (for example, a calculator). If you don’t have a quiet place at home, try your school or local library.

Know where to begin

Make a list of everything you need to do, and note all deadlines. Do the more difficult assignments first, so you don’t have to face them at the end.

Study at the same time every day

Even if you have homework every night, use the time to review notes. If sitting down to work is part of your normal routine, you’ll approach it with less dread. Also, you’ll become a pro at using time production.

“I think it better to do right, even if we suffer in so doing, than to incur the reproach of our consciences and prosperity.”

What Robert is saying is that it’s better to listen to our conscience and do the right thing no matter what. So remember listen to your heart not your friends telling you to do something dumb or in other cases wrong.

Note-taking strategies

Part 4

For review

Once you’ve done all of the above, you’ll find you’ve created your own personalized study guide. Cover the main section of the page and use the key words and questions in the left margin as a quiz.

Stick to it

Review your notes the day you take them and all your notes once a week. That way, you won’t need to study as much when its test time. You’ve been doing the work all along.

Try out the Cornell system, but if it doesn’t work for you, experiment with other methods. Ask your classmates how they take notes or ask teacher for advice. Taking good notes requires practice, like any others skill. And the more you work at it now, the more prepared you’ll be to take notes in college.

After class

As soon as class ends, review your notes and fill in any blanks. Underline, highlight and use symbols to sort through the information. If you don’t understand something, get help from your teacher or classmates.

After you’ve reviewed all your notes from class, in the left hand area of the page write down key words and questions your teacher might ask on a test.

At the bottom of each page, write a summary of the notes. This helps you digest what you’ve learned. It also improves your memory of the material for the long term and for test down the road.

Distance education: is a virtual classroom for you

Part 4

Emphasis on the written

Most of the communication, as well as the course work, in distance learning classes are written. That’s a plus, because the focus on the written word gives you the opportunity to develop as a writer—and strong writing skills are essential to academic success. However, if writing is a serious weakness for you, virtual learning may not be the best educational option until you improve your skills. Yes, most of distance education is the written word; therefore, you need to be a good reader, love to read, and love writing also. Most of your assignment s will be written and submitted to the instructor in the written format. Your penmanship needs to be excellent, spelling great, sentence structure above average, vocabulary extras ordinary. You need to have online access with reliable equipment. If your internet communications at home isn’t working, you can’t do online education from home and will need to go to someplace where you do have access to the internet.

Distance education: is a virtual classroom for you?

Part 1

You may want to take a class that that your high school doesn’t offer. Under some circumstances, you can still enroll in the class through distance learning.

Distance education means taking a class without being physically present where it is being taught. Internet based technology lets students participate in lectures and class sessions online from almost anywhere.

Some high schools agree to recognize distance learning credits when they don’t have the resources to offer a course themselves. Distance education is often used to increase options in rural areas and for AP courses.

For you, it might mean doing self-tutorial at home in the venin or participate in class that is 1,000 miles away, along with other high school students. Check with your school counselor to see what’s available

Just simple stuff you do wrong you will regret it but in the other hand if you are doing something right then you are fine nothing to worry about. Balancing High school and part time work

Part 5

Additional tips

Although working and going to school is challenging, it can be a rewarding experience if you use some foresight. These tips can help you handle the situation and make the most of your time:

·       Discuss your plans with your family. Balancing the demands of school and work is easier with their support.

·       Start slowly; don’t commit to working a lot of hours immediately.

·       Avoid time conflicts by planning your class and work schedules as far ahead of time as possible.

·       Use your time efficiently. You can use 10 minutes waiting in a line to go over a few pages of assigned reading. If your job has a lot of downtime and your boss has no objection, you can use slow periods to do schoolwork.

·       If you commute to your job on public transportation, bring your schoolwork with you so you can work along the way.

·       Be flexible and willing to make sacrifices. You may have to cut down on some other things you’d like to do because of your school and work commitments.

·       If you have too much on your plate, admit it. Then cut back as needed

·       Schedule relaxation time. Everyone needs some downtime to stay happy and healthy.
